Unforgettable Summer Mornings

It's 3:30 a.m. While the world outside is still asleep, there's already a quiet sense of excitement at the Hotel Chalet Alpenschlössel. Every Thursday, we head into the mountains with Rudi for our sunrise hike in the Passeier Valley—an experience many guests describe as one of the highlights of their summer holiday in South Tyrol. 
Together, we drive up to the Jaufen Pass before hiking the final stretch. At the top, hot tea, freshly brewed coffee, homemade brownies and the first rays of sunlight over the South Tyrolean mountains await us. But the sunrise is only part of the story. What truly makes this experience so special are the people.
 

For the past sixteen years, Rudi has been guiding our guests through the mountains he has called home since childhood. Most guests know him as Alpenschlössel's sommelier and bar manager. What many don't know is that he grew up in Plan, a small mountain village in the Passeier Valley. As a former ski instructor and a member of the local mountain rescue team, the mountains have always been an important part of his life.

A few years ago, he decided to share that passion with our guests. What began as a simple idea has grown into one of the hotel's most cherished weekly traditions. Today, the sunrise hike is one of the highlights for guests looking to enjoy an active summer holiday in South Tyrol.

It's always inspiring to see guests setting their alarms for 3:30 a.m. to experience something extraordinary together. Along the trail, strangers become friends through shared stories and laughter.
